Meronique Odendaal, Founder and Director of Odendaal & Co Attorneys Inc., hails from Vredenburg on the West Coast of South Africa.
She obtained her LLB degree from Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth and thereafter completed the Practical Legal Training (Law School) at the same institution.

Meronique commenced her legal career in 2014 by completing her articles at Legal Aid South Africa in King William’s Town, where she gained extensive experience in both criminal and civil litigation. She was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2016.

Following her admission, she continued serving at Legal Aid South Africa for approximately eight years, practising at various offices, including George, Oudtshoorn, Malmesbury, and Vredenburg. During this period, she represented clients in a wide range of criminal matters and gained substantial courtroom experience. She also appeared in several high-profile cases, including representing Kelly Smith, the mother in the widely publicised Joslin Smith matter from Saldanha.

In 2024, Meronique transitioned into the judiciary when she was appointed as an Acting Magistrate at the George Magistrate’s Court. During her tenure, she presided over matters involving criminal law, domestic violence, harassment, maintenance, and immigration. She also served as the Presiding Officer at the George Municipal Court, adjudicating traffic infringement and municipal by-law matters.

With years of litigation experience and a distinguished legal career spanning both legal practice and the judiciary, Meronique brings extensive knowledge, integrity, and practical expertise to every matter entrusted to her.
